There is a wide
ranging programme of extra curricular activities
during weekday evenings and weekends. Children
may belong to our Brownie pack, the theatre school
- 'Stagecoach'. They can also participate in cookery,
art clubs, table tennis, air rifle shooting, chess
and other board games, needlework, science, gardening,
modelling, dance, use of computers and a variety
of sports in the extensive sports centre.
The
school has a small dance drama studio and provides
plays and concerts throughout the year. Children
have the opportunity of taking ballet, jazz and
modern classes as optional extras and often take
part in local performances.
Sport
Any school
responsible for the education of young children
must ensure they have a sound physical education
programme for healthy growth and development.
This school has specialist teachers for the physical
education of boys and girls and has excellent
facilities for major field games as well as gymnastics,
swimming, cross country running, athletics and
adventure activities. The boys play rugby, association
football and hockey in the winter, while the girls
play netball and hockey. In the summer the boys
play cricket and girls play rounders. Gymnastics,
athletics, swimming, tennis and health related
fitness as well as associated skills involved
in motor co-ordination, mobility and endurance
are on the programme for all the children.
